The Points Daily: Show Notes for October 15, 2026

This page is the archive and show-notes companion to today's episode. The newsletter is the timely morning briefing, so if you're reading this later in the day, some of these deals may already be moving. Think of this page as the reference copy, not the first alert.

Today's rundown: OnePay's Wednesday gas cashback gets an extension, a Hilton Amex Offer dangles 20K points, Rove adds JetBlue as a transfer partner, Marriott and Singapore KrisFlyer trade bonus points for paid nights, and Norwegian lowers the bar on its Amex Offer. The Steal of the Day sends you from Fort Lauderdale to Tokyo.

OnePay Keeps the Wednesday Gas Discount Going

What happened: OnePay's per-gallon Wednesday gas cashback has been extended into mid-January 2027. It requires a OnePay card, either the debit card or the Builder Card, and it doesn't work with the CashRewards Card or third-party cards linked in the wallet. Availability and caps vary, and two states are excluded.

Why it matters: A flat dollar-per-gallon discount is a big deal at the pump, and it's rare to see one this simple. The tradeoff is that you have to fund a debit card and fill up on a specific day of the week.

TPD take: If your gas stops line up with Wednesdays and you're fine parking money in a debit account, this is easy savings. Check the in-app offer for your exact cap and location before you count on it.

Hilton Amex Offer Puts 20K Points on a $200 Stay

What happened: A targeted Amex Offer on Hilton credit cards awards 20,000 bonus Hilton Honors points for spending $200 or more on a stay. It runs through the end of 2026, covers US properties only, and excludes advance purchase and non-refundable rates.

Why it matters: At a conservative valuation, that's roughly $70 back on a $200 room, a strong return for a stay you might book anyway. The rate restrictions are where people get tripped up.

TPD take: Check your Hilton cards for the offer first, since it's targeted. If it's there, book a flexible rate you'd actually use rather than chasing points on a stay you may cancel.

Rove Miles Gets a JetBlue Transfer Option

What happened: Rove Miles now transfers 1:1 to JetBlue TrueBlue, with a limited-time 20% bonus running through mid-November. JetBlue awards are priced off cash fares, and you can check live award space inside Rove.

Why it matters: A new transfer partner expands what Rove points can do, and the bonus sweetens the first month. Because JetBlue pricing tracks cash fares, the value depends entirely on the specific flight.

TPD take: Don't transfer on vibes. Compare the award price to the cash fare first, since transfers are one-way. The bonus is nice, but only if the redemption is.

Marriott and KrisFlyer Offer Bonus Points for Paid Stays

What happened: Marriott Bonvoy is offering Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer members 2,500 bonus points for three paid nights by year-end. The promotion is capped at the first 20,000 members who register and complete the stays, requires linked accounts and Gold Elite status or higher, and excludes award and Cash and Points stays.

Why it matters: It's a modest bonus, but it's easy to earn if you're already booking Marriott nights, and the cap means it can run out before the deadline.

TPD take: If you qualify and have stays planned, register now. If you'd have to book extra nights just to get 2,500 points, skip it.

Norwegian's Amex Offer Comes With a Lower Spend Threshold

What happened: A targeted Amex Offer gives $150 back on $750 in spending with Norwegian Cruise Line, a lower threshold than the more common $200 back on $1,000. It applies to bookings made online or by phone and paid by the end of 2026, with exclusions for onboard purchases, gift cards, shore excursions, and transportation to the ship.

Why it matters: A lower spend requirement makes the credit reachable for more bookings. If the offer shows up on multiple household cards, there may be a way to collect it more than once.

TPD take: If you have the offer on two or more cards and a cruise of $1,500 or more, call Norwegian and ask about splitting the payment. Confirm the terms on each card before you pay.

Steal of the Day: Fort Lauderdale to Tokyo for $770

What happened: Air Canada has a roundtrip fare from Fort Lauderdale to Tokyo at $770, taxes included, and it reportedly includes a checked bag.

Why it matters: That's a solid price for a long-haul international trip, and a checked bag on a cheap fare is a nice change. It's still a standard economy ticket.

TPD take: If Tokyo is on your list and Fort Lauderdale works as a departure point, search your dates with Matrix Airfare Search by ITA Software and book if they line up. Good fares don't wait around.
