Why it matters: If you have August weekend plans locked in, this is a straightforward cash savings play. The short booking window means you need to move fast.
TPD take: Real savings on decent properties is rare. If your dates align and you're willing to give up refundability, this works. Don't book speculatively just to chase the discount.

Business class to Switzerland for 60,000 Aeroplan points each way
Air Canada Aeroplan is pricing lie-flat business class to Zurich and Geneva at 60,000 points from the East Coast (70,000 from the West), with broad award availability through year-end. Taxes are roughly $57 per person from New York. Some flights show up to 9 business award seats open on the same date, making group travel feasible.
Why it matters: 60K points for transcontinental business class is strong value. Wide-open availability is unusual and won't last.
TPD take: This is a legitimate redemption if you're flexible on dates and willing to use Aeroplan currency. Book direct through Aeroplan, not through partner programs.

Chase adds targeted Hyatt offers: cash back at Place, Inclusive Collection, and Under Canvas
Chase is running limited-time targeted offers: 7% cash back at Hyatt Place on purchases over $100 (through September 30), $100 back per stay at Hyatt Inclusive Collection resorts on $1,000+ spend (through August 31, capped at $200 for two stays), and 15% back on prepaid Under Canvas stays of $450+. All require adding the offer to your account first and direct Hyatt bookings.
Why it matters: The all-inclusive offer is the strongest if you're already planning two resort stays. The others are narrow but worth checking if you're booking Hyatt properties anyway.
TPD take: These are targeted, so not everyone will see them. Don't rearrange travel plans to chase them—only act if the dates already work and the offer shows in your account.

Capital One Spark Cash: $1,000 cash back plus $250 travel credit
The Capital One Spark Cash is offering new cardholders $1,000 cash back plus a $250 Capital One Business Travel credit after $10,000 spend in 3 months. The card earns unlimited 2% cash back on all purchases with no category restrictions or caps. Annual fee is $0 the first year, then $95.
Why it matters: $1,250 total value ($1,000 + $250) is substantial for a business card if you can meet the spend requirement organically. The unlimited 2% earn rate is solid for ongoing use.
TPD take: Only chase this if you have $10,000 in committed business spend. Otherwise, you're paying $95 for a bonus. If the spend is already on your calendar, apply.

Hilton adds luxury villas to free night certificate redemptions: Paradise Beach Nevis
Hilton has expanded free night certificate eligibility to include more than a dozen Small Luxury Hotels of the World properties. The standout is Paradise Beach Nevis, where the standard redemption gets you a 2-bedroom beachfront villa with full kitchen and plunge pool, sleeping up to 4. The property has only 10 villas total, so availability will be tight.
Why it matters: This is a rare certificate use case where you're redemption for something closer to a vacation rental than a hotel room. Group travel or multi-person stays suddenly look much more attractive.
TPD take: If you have certificates sitting idle and can find open dates, this is one of the better uses you'll find. Availability at a 10-villa property will move fast once word spreads.

Steal of the Day: Turkish Airlines 100% bonus on gifted miles
Turkish Airlines is offering a 100% bonus on miles you gift to someone else through August 7. The bonus posts to your own account, not the recipient's—a rare structure that effectively lets you buy miles at a 50% discount if you have someone willing to receive them. Award space on Turkish can be sparse, so redemption optionality matters.
Why it matters: If you have a redemption target and a willing recipient, this is cheap miles. Solo buyers are out of luck.
TPD take: Useful only if you have both the recipient and a specific award in mind. Don't buy miles just to have them.

Card of the Day: Chase Sapphire Preferred 100K bonus ends today
The Chase Sapphire Preferred's 100,000-point welcome bonus—the highest offer this card has ever had—expires today at 3 p.m. Eastern. You need $5,000 spend in 3 months, and the bonus posts 1–2 billing cycles after hitting the threshold.
Why it matters: This is a limited-time high-water mark. Once it's gone, it's unlikely to return at this level.
TPD take: If you were already planning to apply and can comfortably meet the spend, pull the trigger before 3 p.m. today. Otherwise, wait for the next good offer.
