Etihad Airways: Up to 20% Off Economy and Business Fares
What happened: Etihad is discounting economy and business fares by up to 20% on select routes from six U.S. gateways (New York, Chicago, Washington Dulles, and others) to Middle East and Indian subcontinent destinations. Travel is valid through November 30, but you must book by July 26.
Why it matters: A 20% reduction on international business class is meaningful if you were already considering the trip. First class is excluded, and not all Etihad routes participate.
TPD take: Decent savings if the timing and route align with your plans. The tight booking window and limited route map make this a narrow opportunity—don't chase it just because the number is big.
OnePay: $1 Cashback Per Gallon Every Wednesday
What happened: OnePay is offering $1 cashback per gallon of gas every Wednesday through September 15, 2026. The offer applies at any OnePay-listed gas station, stacks on top of existing station promotions, and allows two redemptions per day with a 50-gallon cap per transaction.
Why it matters: If you're already using a fuel cashback app, this gives you a higher midweek bonus without abandoning your existing earn structure.
TPD take: Clean upgrade for Wednesdays. But the offer can be canceled without notice, so don't build your fuel strategy around it long-term.
Expedia One Key Rewards: Earnings Cuts and Benefits Removed
What happened: Starting July 28, Expedia is restructuring One Key earning rates: Blue members drop from 2% to 1% on hotels and rentals, Silver and Gold remain steady, and Platinum rises to 3%. Flight bookings now earn zero points (down from 0.2%). The Hotel Price Guarantee is also being removed from both Expedia and Hotels.com.
Why it matters: Blue tier members—typically casual, mid-volume bookers—just lost half their earning rate with no corresponding benefit upgrade.
TPD take: If you're Blue tier, this is a stinger. If you're Platinum or planning to be, the 3% earn might justify higher spend, but the floor just moved down.
Delta Beyond the Summer: Double Miles, Discounts, and Package Bonuses
What happened: Delta's summer promotion stacks flight discounts, double SkyMiles on select routes (Auckland, Paris, Seoul, Sydney), and elevated earning on hotels (4x miles on Delta Stays), cars, and packages. The double-miles offer requires booking by July 23; most other promotions run through August 6.
Why it matters: The double-miles routes are premium destinations with reasonable redemption value if you're planning those trips anyway.
TPD take: Useful if you were already booking one of the featured routes and have status or credit card earn to layer on top. Skip the urgency otherwise.
Award Alert: Business Class to São Paulo for 50K Alaska Points
What happened: American Airlines has abundant business class award availability to São Paulo from August 2026 through June 2027, bookable via Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan at 50,000 points one-way plus $18 in taxes. The aircraft is a lie-flat 787 with direct aisle access at every seat. You can transfer points from Bilt (1:1) or Marriott (3:1).
Why it matters: 50,000 points is saver-level pricing on a long-haul lie-flat product, and the availability window is unusually broad for South America.
TPD take: If Brazil is on your list and you have the points or a clear transfer path, this is a straightforward redemption win.
